The Current Production:

CONGRATULATIONS to PC's One-Act play, Orphan Trains, on being selected as the "Critic's Choice" of all the one-acts presented at the IHSSA All-State Festival on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Iowa State University! Receiving an All-State nomination at the State Large Group competition on February 6 qualified the group as only one of eight one-acts across the state of Iowa to perform at the All-State Festival--representing an elite group of the best of Iowa high school theatre and selected out of over 190 one-acts originally entered in the District Large Group event! For the next year, the IHSSA's One-Act "Critic's Choice Traveling Banner" will hang in PCHS.
This spring, PC's Theatre Troupe will be presenting the stirring drama, The Miracle Worker, one of the most successful and warmly admired plays of the modern stage. The story is set in 1887 and dramatizes the volatile relationship between the lonely teacher, Annie Sullivan, and her charge, Helen Keller--violent, spoiled, and trapped in her secret world, unable to see or hear. Only Annie realizes the child's potential and was able to work a miracle: teaching Helen language. A harsh father, a weak mother, a sarcastic half-brother and an intrusive aunt each bring their own story to the emotion-packed stage. The powerful drama will be presented March 26-27, 2010 with tickets going on sale March 8.

FOR THREE YEARS IN A ROW, Pella Christian's One-Act plays have been chosen as one of only eight schools across Iowa to perform at the IHSSA All-State Festival on the campus of Iowa State University! Selected as Outstanding Performers and receiving All-State Nominations in the State Large Group competitions qualified the school each year for the state's highest honor of representing Iowa's best in high school theatre. These students represented an elite group of only eight one-acts selected each year out of over 190 one-acts originally entered every year in Iowa's IHSSA Large Group event! In addition, the 2010 One-Act play was awarded the "Critic's Choice" top honor over all the one-acts performed at the Festival that year. PC's Theatre Troupe entries have included: Orphan Trains (2010), Rags (2009), and The Yellow Boat (2008).
