The Current Production:

PC's Forensic Speech Team will perform their dramatic cutting of Charlie Foster: A Play about Swimming and Theatre as the school's Large Group One-Act entry with the Iowa High School Speech Association.  This contemporary piece looks at Charlie Foster, a kid no one noticed or cared about until he accidentally drowned in the river.  Then the young students try to remember who he is and their journey will use the emotional tools they understand most: the rules of swimming and improvisation.  A powerful play about coming of age and the sensitive nature of walking in someone else's shoes, this one-act is a universal part of all of us that strives to be understood and loved.

A local Home Benefit performance of the one-act will be held as one of the events during Pella's City-Wide Speech Festival to be held this year at PCHS's Vermeer Auditorium on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 7:00 pm.

The Cast List for this show can be found by returning to 'Drama' and clicking on the link that will follow to the right.

The 2010 One-Act Play Cast, Orphan Trains, with their Critic's Choice Banner

FOR THREE YEARS IN A ROW, Pella Christian's One-Act plays have been chosen as one of only eight schools across Iowa to perform at the IHSSA All-State Festival on the campus of Iowa State University!  Selected as Outstanding Performers and receiving All-State Nominations in the State Large Group competitions qualified the school each year for the state's highest honor of representing Iowa's best in high school theatre.  These students represented an elite group of only eight one-acts selected each year out of over 190 one-acts originally entered every year in Iowa's IHSSA Large Group event!   In addition, the 2010 One-Act play was awarded the "Critic's Choice" top honor over all the one-acts performed at the Festival that year.  PC's Theatre Troupe entries have included:  Orphan Trains  (2010), Rags  (2009), and The Yellow Boat  (2008).
