Pella Christian High School’s Theatre Troupe will begin its new year—their 75th Diamond Jubilee Season—with Broadway’s favorite classic, Fiddler on the Roof.  The musical follows the life of Tevye, a poor dairyman from Anatevka, who tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of this tight-knit Jewish community in the face of Czarist Russia, 1905. The sharp tongue of Tevye’s wife Golde and the meddling busywork of the matchmaker Yente add to the musical’s continuing popularity.  The show’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.  Iconic solos from the tailor Motel (“Miracle of Miracles”) and the butcher Lazar Wolf (“To Life) continue to add to the delight of the ensemble.  Other popular musical numbers include “Tradition,” “Matchmaker,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” and “If I Were a Rich Man.”  The performance will be directed by Marlo Van Peursem with assistance from Aaron Fitzgerald (music), Paulina Loaiza (choreography) and Daryl Van Zee (Tech). Production dates are October 31, November 1 and 2, 2024 with Reserve Tickets available for purchase on-line beginning October 21 at https://pchstt.booktix.net/. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students ($2 more at the door).  All sales are final.
