Pella Christian High School’s Theatre Troupe will open its season by tackling a variety of dramatic styles, eras, and technical effects during the 2026-2027 school year, according to Director of Theatre Marlo Van Peursem. Each of the performances will be held in the Vermeer Auditorium at Pella Christian High School, 300 Eagle Lane. This will be PCHS’s 77th theatre season.
PCHS Theatre opens this fall with Disney’s newest musical, Frozen. It premiered on Broadway in 2018, became available to High schools in 2025 and will be only the fourth High School in Iowa to perform the Musical! Expanding on the 2013 film with 12 new songs, Frozen follows sisters Elsa and Anna in the kingdom of Arendelle. When Elsa’s ice magic accidentally injures Anna, the King and Queen seek help for their daughter from Pabbie and Bulda, leaders of the mystical Hidden Folk. Years later, at Elsa’s coronation, Anna quickly falls for the charming Prince Hans, who later reveals his villainous side. After Elsa’s powers trap the kingdom in eternal winter, she flees to the mountains, prompting Anna to set out on a rescue mission alongside Kristoff, Sven, Olaf, and Oaken. When a confrontation leaves Anna’s heart freezing, she learns only an ‘act of true love’ can save her. Ultimately, Anna’s selfless sacrifice to protect Elsa thaws her own heart, teaching Elsa that love is the key to controlling her powers. Popular musical numbers include “Let It Go”, “For the First Time in Forever”, “Colder by the Minute”, “Love Is An Open Door”, and “Hygge”. The performance will be directed by Marlo Van Peursem with assistance from Aaron Fitzgerald (music), Paulina Loaiza (choreography) Daryl Van Zee (Tech) and Scott Merrin (Pit). Production dates are October 29, 30, and 31, 2026.
